Join Oregon Labor tomorrow as we gather in Salem at the Capitol Steps to stand in solidarity for workers’ rights and demand an end to mass deportations.

May Day, or International Workers’ Day, is a national day of action on Thursday, May 1, to commemorate the struggles and gains made by workers and the labor movement.

Oregon’s march and rally at the Capitol is organized by Pineros Y Campesinos Unidos del Noroeste (PCUN), a farm workers union and the largest Latinx organization in the state.

Though attacks on immigrants, especially those working in the agriculture industry, are not new in the United States, we are seeing heightened racism and xenophobia-driven actions from the Trump administration and Republicans at-large.

In recent weeks, we have seen union activists being taken by ICE, including Alfedo ‘Lelo’ Juarez, a Washington farmworker union leader, SEIU Local 925 member Lewelyn Dixon, and SMART 100 apprentice Kilmar Abrego Garcia, whom the Trump administration conceded they mistakenly deported.

Whether an immigrant or not, in a union or not yet organized, these attacks threaten the well-being of all working people, and the labor movement must hold an uncompromising position against discrimination.
